Hello Everyone!
It has been a busy time in Grade 5. The students just finished the D.A.R.E program and they have been busy writing their reports in preparation for the Graduation. The students have also been very busy exploring different career possibilities and they are beginning to plan their career fair. This will take place on June.3rd in the afternoon. In Math the students have wrapped up their unit on fractions and they are now beginning decimals and probability. We are hoping to have a mini Olympics to put our decimal knowledge into action during the second week of June. In Literacy, we are wrapping up our final persuasive stories and we will soon begin our unit on narratives.  Don't forget the 50% off Scholastic book fair taking place in a couple of weeks and this Friday is "wear your hat  Day" in support of the terrible earthquake that took place in Nepal.

Hi everyone,
It looks as though winter has finally arrived. With the colder weather and snow on the ground, please remember to dress appropriately. Part of the curriculum for Grade 5 is winter safety and we have had many discussions on how and why it is important to dress properly in winter. It is important that you demonstrate your knowledge in this area; as it is part of your assessment. As well, please remember to bring your permission slips for snowshoeing in by Wednesday as well as your display boards for your career projects. Thank you and enjoy the snow.

Dear Parents,
This week the sheets that the students have in their homework are meant to be practice sheets for concepts that have been taught in class. These concepts will be on upcoming assessments. Students are not required to do all of the sheets; but they are encouraged to give some a try and to see me with any questions before Wednesday of this week. Homework will be due back on Tuesday of next week.
Please remember that there is no school Thursday or Friday this week and therefore hot lunch orders will be due on Wednesday.
